Manage speakers and transcript labels

Keep speaker labels, paragraphs, and transcript structure readable.

Use speaker and paragraph controls to keep a transcript readable, especially for interviews, panels, and podcasts.

This guide covers

  • Renaming speaker labels.

  • Changing the speaker for a selected paragraph.

  • Breaking a paragraph before or after a selection.

  • Merging with the previous or next paragraph.

Steps

  1. Open the project in the editor.

  2. Select the word or paragraph that needs cleanup.

  3. Click More on the selection controls.

  4. Choose Change Speaker, Break Paragraph Before Selection, Break Paragraph After Selection, Merge With Previous Paragraph, or Merge With Next Paragraph.

  5. Review the surrounding transcript to make sure the speaker labels and paragraphs read correctly.

  6. Save the project.

Good to know

  • Automatic speaker detection can require manual cleanup.

  • Paragraph breaks affect readability and can make captions or transcript exports easier to review.

If something goes wrong

  • If Change Speaker is unavailable, select text inside a speaker paragraph first.
